The Audi A6 is a winner. Each year, almost a quarter of a million units of the model are sold around the world. Its numerous innovations, high performance and luxurious equipment levels have made the Audi A6 the number one in its class. Above all, it’s the successful combination of sportiness and elegance that is most compelling.

As proof, the A6 again took first place in the 2008 “Best Cars” reader survey carried out by one of Europe's leading car magazines, auto motor und sport, as it had done the three previous years. In terms of reliability, too, the four rings’ executive class model keeps its promises.

According to motoring organisation ADAC’s latest breakdown statistics, the Audi A6 is one of the most dependable cars on German roads. To continue this success story, the A6 is now being rolled out with more technical innovations and numerous design changes.

More power, less fuel
The first Audi A6 set the standard for others to follow. Today’s Audi A6 raises the bar even further, with more powerful and efficient engines, a reduction in fuel consumption across the model range of up to twelve percent, a more comfortably tuned suspension and, on request, the latest quattro drive. A new highlight in the completely revised engine range is the 3.0 TFSI. The combination of fuel direct injection and compressor supercharging makes this high-tech V6 particularly powerful, spontaneous and efficient: The 290 horsepower engine speeds the A6 sedan from zero to 100 in only 5.9 seconds—and all with moderate fuel consumption.

To bring the high torque reliably to the road, Audi engineers have adapted all the chassis components to the new power units, further enhancing the highly praised dynamic chassis for greater comfort without compromising performance and agility. The new-generation quattro drive makes its debut in the A6, with a basic torque split of 40/60 (front/rear) which can vary dynamically between 15/85 and 65/35, allowing a sportier, more athletic drive particularly on winding roads.

Portfolio of high-tech components
New standards in automotive infotainment are set by the latest-generation Multi Media Interface (MMI). The MMI is the central control system in the Audi A6, combining information, entertainment, navigation and telephone functions. The top-of-the-range version, MMI Navigation plus, offers a portfolio of high-tech components that breaks new ground.

The special features: audio and video DVD drive and optional navigation system with 40-GB hard disc, including for MP3 files and up to 5,000 contact addresses. Entertainment is provided by, among other things, a TV tuner, Audi music interface, DAB digital radio and Bose Surround Sound.

Another major sales argument for the Audi A6 is its fascinating design. To perfect the appearance of the sedan, Audi has given the new model a thorough facelift. The main changes concern the front and rear, which highlight more strongly the dynamic character of the A6. They include a modern headlight design with daytime running lights (optionally as xenon plus with LED daytime running lights). Modified bumpers and air vents make the car appear wider and flatter, giving it a solid stance. A conspicuous feature on the side are the LED turn indicators integrated in the outside mirrors, at first glance setting the new model apart from its predecessor and sending out a clear signal: The Audi A6 will remain in the fast lane down the line.
